Nuclear fast red-aluminum sulfate is used for counterstaining in histochemical reactions, e.g. in Berlin blue staining for detection of iron or in silver staining of reteculin fibers. Nuclear fast red-aluminum sulfate solution 0.1% can also be used for nuclear staining with Alcian blue.
