A polypeptide antibiotic and peptidase inhibitor. An inhibitor of protein disulfide isomerase. Resembles penicillin in causing protoplast formation and inhibition of cell wall synthesis. Blocks the regeneration of carrier phospholipid. Stimulates 5-hydroxytryptamine receptors and increases vascular resistance.
