Children's toys

Pigments

PTP children's toys

The children’s toy standard (EN 71, Section 3) regulates the use of pigments in inks with which children’s toys are printed. The use of pigments in plastics used in the manufacture of children’s toys is also stipulated here.

The Plastics Directive and PTF children’s toys

The use of colorants in children’s toys is regulated by the European standard EN 71, Section 3. For a range of heavy metals, a certain percentage cannot be exceeded if the colorant is intended for use in children’s toys. The majority of Merck pigments from the Iriodin®, Miraval® and Colorstream® product families, which we recommend for this area of application, meet these requirements.
