With its new Reflectoquant® alcohol test, Merck offers the market’s first rapid test for quantitative in-process measurements of low alcohol concentrations in beverages, e. g. non-alcoholic beer or fruit juices.

Especially in the production of non-alcoholic beer it is important to make sure that the alcohol content is below a defined threshold concentration. In the US and the European Union (except UK), beer containing less than 0.5 percent alcohol by volume can be legally called non-alcoholic. In fruit juices, in-process measurement of alcohol can determine the start of fermentation.
Rapid, reliable process control
For consistent process control in beverages, Merck offers a new reflectometric test that provides rapid on-site analysis of alcohol. The highly sensitive Reflectoquant® alcohol test is especially suitable to detect low alcohol concentrations in fruit juices or non-alcoholic beers. The product can also detect the alcohol content of specially prepared samples of beer and other alcoholic beverages.
Cost-effective alternative
Merck’s new Reflectoquant® test is a reliable and cost-effective alternative to enzymatic and HPLC test procedures for laboratories and production sites that supervise raw materials, production and filing processes. Its special reagent formulation ensures that only alcohol in solution is detected, excluding interference from the ambient air. Therefore, the Reflectoquant® alcohol test works reliably even with higher alcohol concentrations in the environment.

The new Reflectoquant® test comes in the easy-to-use test strip format. All reagents are provided with the test kit. You don't lose time waiting for results: Analysis takes little more than 15 minutes. At present, no similar rapid test delivering quantitative results is offered in the market. |
