The European Innovation Prize goes to RonaCare® Luremin™
Natural and innovative: Merck's anti-aging ingredient receives 2nd prize
Merck is proud to announce: Our breakthrough ingredient for anti-wrinkle and anti-aging products, RonaCare® Luremin™, was awarded 2nd prize in the category "innovative raw material (natural)" during the BSB Innovation Prize ceremonies that took place during this year's in-cosmetic in Munich.
RonaCare® Luremin™ uses the power of nature to deliver anti-aging effects rivaling those of retinol. But retinol, while popular and respected, has its own weakenesses. With Merck's newly decorated anti-aging cosmetic active ingredient, we have distilled the time-tested positive power of medicinal rhubarb into an active that matches the demads of the anti-aging and anti-wrinkle agents on the market.
Winning the second prize confirms that our clients and partners can always expect the highest level of innovation from Merck.
RonaCare® Luremin™ (dihydroxymethylchromone) is a nature-identical ingredient that activates certain skin cell genes, stimulates collagen synthesis and protects the cells from collagen-killers like collagenase and elastase. But unlike retinol, Merck's active ingredient also works as an anti-inflammatory and promotes smooth, non-flaky skin. It does so by harnessing the power of a revolutionary molecule also found in flavonoid-rich medicinal rhubarb - a plant that Eastern practitioners have used for centuries to heal the skin.
The BSB Innovation Prize has been awarded annually since 2003 by Consulting and service bureau Dr. Riedel. The prize is highly esteemed in the cosmetics industry and the winners are selected by an independent, international jury consisting of prestigious representatives of the cosmetics industry (including Mibelle Cosmetics, Seppic, Johnson & Johnson, LaPrairie, and Weleda).
