An imidazolo-containing peptidomimetic that preferentially inhibits protein farnesyltransferase activity (IC50 = 820 pM for mammalian, 1.8 nM for T. brucei and 15 nM for P. falciparum) compared to protein geranylgeranyltransferase-I (IC50 > 1.7 µM for mammalian). Shown to disrupt Ras farnesylation in H-Ras-transformed NIH3T3 cells (IC50 = 60 nM) and prevent the growth of T. brucei rhodesiense and T. brucei brucei (ED50 = 200 nM and 1 µM, respectively).
